Session 4: Your First $10 – Customers, Cost, Profit

Session 4: Your First $10 – Customers, Cost, Profit

Session 4 is where your ideas officially meet money. In this session, you take one of your best ideas from Session 3 and turn it into a simple, realistic first business plan—with real numbers, real customers, and real decisions.

You’ll learn that a customer is someone who pays for a product or service, and you’ll explore why people buy things—to satisfy either a need or a want.

Next, you’ll learn three essential money concepts every young entrepreneur needs to understand.

The core activity of this session is the “My-$10 Business Plan” You’ll also think critically about inventory and risk, learning why some products last longer (like crafts or prints) while others must be sold quickly (like food or drinks), and how that affects your planning.

By the end of Session 4, you will:

  • Understand customers, needs vs. wants, and basic money concepts
  • Know how to calculate cost, price, revenue, and profit
  • Complete a simple, realistic first business plan
  • Feel more confident handling money in a safe, beginner-friendly way

This session lays the foundation for financial literacy and real-world decision-making. In the next session, you’ll learn what to do after you earn money—how to save it, grow it, or share it responsibly.

Don’t forget to complete and submit your worksheet before moving on to the next session.
